This will be an abbreviated journal in terms of content in order to spend some more time doing what I probably should’ve during the day. Today I spent most of my time on down-time, due to a bad sleep overnight that sapped the will to do things out of me. I’ll just call it a sick day because everybody knows you can’t perform well while tired; especially on days like today when I feel like an insomniac zombie running on sugar (the natural kind, I mainly don’t eat non-fruit sweets). Well, I browsed Reddit in order to read what was up with r/Wallstreetbets, and all the attention they are getting with their recent exploits, including blowing up “meme stocks” like AMC, Nokia, and Bed Bath & Beyond, paying for billboards to promote the GameStop stock trend, promoting using other platforms besides Robinhood for their stocks and crypto, and making meme videos about the whole media trend. Frankly, it was not the best usage of my time, but it was still funny, in a silly kind of way.

I also went on Wix in order to edit my blog, beginning with the article “The Outlook of E-Commerce Platforms: Shopify & OfferUp”, that I wrote on Thursday-Friday. The main hotfix was to make the citations better (by including reference count and making sure that the order and index were accurate). I used a superscript site in order to generate superscript to put in the article after each quote from the same author that I used, which took a bit of time. Additionally, I fixed any mistakes with capitalization (OfferUp was the biggest culprit, had to use Ctrl+F), and I made sure that the article was completely mistake-free in all senses of the word. I think the most annoying thing for me would not be editing articles-- it would be having finished writing something but it is not a good read because of something I could fix this easily. I mean I had like 15 tabs open in order to get info, so it better roll off the tongue, or all of that was for moot. Well, I am a bit of a tab hoarder.

It is stated over and over when people reference poems like “The Road not Taken” by Robert Frost, or pop-culture platitudes relating to pushing oneself; but they are right because while this conventional truth may not be groundbreaking to hear, it has lead to successful people. I don’t think that today was my day, truth be told, in terms of productively treading through my time. The drowsiness that ruled the day may have been caused in part by productive activities of previous days— tiredness and mental over-stimulation sitting in front of the screen for many hours researching topics, pains from pushing myself in new exercises, and just trying to do things I don’t normally do for a while. It has been quite a while since I started my routine, and it takes some getting used to, but seeing one new article that I’ve written and the progress from my workout routine keeps my encouragement alive.

I will definitely cut back on doing too much in the coming days as I’ve learned from trial-and-error, and that’s the process to get it done. Even still, I think the sleeplessness is also partially because my mattress is hard as a rock funny as it sounds. Anyways. What of all of it, I still plan to keep up with the routine that I set out to accomplish, the unpaved journey that evolves from day to day, interests me and increases my knowledge and capabilities simultaneously. For me, it’s trial and error, not a trial, and “It’s too hard, so I’ll just stop.” I’m not planning on ending my routine until the final day of the month-long trial-run, on February 16th. However, I believe that even after that day comes, I will likely keep writing this journal and the site articles because I find it enjoyable, mentally focusing, and even helps to keep writing block away. My benefits from this all far outweigh the short-run inconveniences, and I’m certain that continuing to push yourself in whatever you pursue will do wonders for you as well.

"For me, it’s trial and error, not a trial, and 'It’s too hard, so I’ll just stop.' "
